DUNGAVIN WESTIES
Kip
Beinarderie Kipling Kelly
Born 24-July-2014
Kip was Andrew's first Westie. Andrew wanted another dog after losing his beloved Monty the Saint Bernard. In consultation with his mum Eileen, they decided that a Westie was the breed of choice. Andrew contacted the breeder and was put on the waiting list and there he waited for a couple of years until a male puppy was born. Unfortunate for Kip he had an undescended testicle and was castrated, thus he never became a stud dog. Although this wasn't the path that Andrew had in mind for Kip he has proven to be an awesome dog with an amazing temperament. This has been crucial as he has taught all of our dogs the rules of the house and is affectionately known as the "Goddog".
Although Kip is getting on in years, he still loves to play with both us humans and our other westies. He loves a good game of tag. Unfortunately, he is losing his hearing, but he has learnt hand signals and to read our body language which allows us to communicate with him.
Kip had always sported a traditional westie haircut, up until late 2023, where we decided to clip his body short all over but retain the westie head. This decision was made for his comfort due to his age and the time it takes to manage a traditional westie cut. To say he loves his new hair style is an understatement.
